PHACOEMULSIFICATION AND MANUAL SMALL INCISION CATARACT SURGERY TRAINING PROGRAMME
SUDARSANI EYE HOSPITAL has been conducting live surgical workshops on Phacoemulsification and manual small incision cataract surgery regularly for the past 3 years. Now this has been upgraded to a regular SURGICAL TRAINING PROGRAMME
giving emphasis more on the practical aspects of the training instead of long sessions of academic programmes.This is basically a surgically oriented hands on course. Each candidate will be give about 15 years, over a span of 2 or 3 weeks (the choice of how long the candidate wants to have the course is left to the candidate as some private practitioners would like to return to their practive early.

Manual small incision cataract surgery Training
» Learning manual small incision cataract surgery is a good stepping stone to master    phacoemulsification later.
» This is basically designed for surgeons who are good in all the steps of extracapsular    cataract surgery.
» Knowledge of capsulorhexis and tunnelling is not a must to undergo this training.

The candidates will be given hands on training under the close supervision of expert phaco surgeons so that each step of the surgery will be covered. The candidates will also have a chance to observe and discuss with the phaco surgeons of the institute when they are operating which will help the candidate to fine tune his/her technique. All the surgeries will be recorded and a separate review video session will be conducted every day to discuss about the surgery done by the candidate.
 
Instrumental Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery Training
» This is ideally suitable for surgeons who are already very confident with their     tunnelling     and capsulorhexis.
» Knowledge of these two steps is a must otherwise the candidate will just waste his    time    learning them and not doing the actual phacoemulsification.

Two phaco machines (One Alcon Universal II with Legacy HP and One Appasamy Galaxy) are available and the candidate can choose which machine he wants to operate upon under the supervision of an expert phaco surgeon.
 

Each candidate will be given at least 15 cases during their course. The patient's wellbeing is of the first priority during any surgical training session and so the expert surgeon who is with the candidate during the training will take over the case at any time if he feels necessary.
Strict theater discipline has to be followed taking all the precautions to maintain the sterility of the theater. Timings have to maintained promptly as the trainng staff will have to continue with the daily routine of the hospital. Routine daily activities of the institute should not be interfered with at any cost.
 

Accommodation will be provided at the hospital on nominal charges and in the rare case of non-availability of the accommodation in the hospital arrangements of the same has to done at the local hotels and the hospital will help in this matter.
Boarding has to be arranged from local hotels and the hospital will help in this matter.
Candidates will be offered the course strictly on a first come first serve basis. The course fee has to be paid within 10 days of confirming the dates with the institute, otherwise the next candidate will be given the chance. Payment is in the form of a Demand Draft payable at Guntur, favouring Sudarsani Eye and Vision Association, Guntur.
Guntur is located 23 Km away from Vijayawada and the institute will help the candidates in local transport if proper prior intimation is given to the insitute regarding the arrival.
